The reserve's rugged terrain includes several peaks and deeply incised gorges. Montane fynbos (heath) covers most of the area and the flowers are at their best in spring. The observant visitor may spot grey rhebok, klipspringer, Cape grysbok, common duiker or baboon, or any one of about 25 reptile species. As with other montane areas in the former Cape province, although birdlife is not particularly diverse this is a good area for seeing black eagle, jackal buzzard, gymnogene, Cape sugerbird and several sunbird species. Location: South-western part of the province; north-east of Caledon. Access: From Caledon take the N2 westwards for 3 km and turn right onto the R406 to Greyton; at Greyton continue to the end of the main street and turn left and then right to the reserve. Accommodation: None. Greyton has 3 hotels and a camping site. Other facilities: Part of the Boesmandkloof Hiking Trail passes through the reserve (permits are required for the trail); short walks within the reserve. Open: Throughout the year.
